Atlanta to New Orleans
Miles: 495
11:30 am
We hit the road for the second day. A brief stop downtown for some more
food and we're on our way. Should make it to New Orleans around 7:00.
2:08 pm
Realize we're in the Dirty South and take full advantage rockin' out to
Afroman on the iPod.
4:20 pm
1 ,000 miles and counting.
5:40 pm
See a scenic route and decide to take it. 90 West provides our first views
of the Gulf of Mexico.
7:30 pm
Finally make it to the hotel. Best Western St. Charles is actually pretty
cool. It's an old warehouse they converted into a hotel about two years
ago. Apparently they haven't finished informing the employees of their
pet policy. We're about two blocks away from the French Quarter.
11:30 pm
After a small incident regarding bringing the cat into the room, we get
settled, showered fed and head out to Bourbon Street to check out the
sights. It's Monday night so things are pretty tame, but we do get a glimpse
of what it must be like here for Mardi Gras. We wander into Fritzels
and catch a set from a pretty great swing trio. After another stop and
another beer - we're exhausted and head back to the room to get a fresh
start in the morning.
8:00 am
Head out early to see more of the French Quarter. Benigets and coffee
at Cafe Du Monde.
The architecture and iron work here is absolutely stunning. There were
so many more pics we wanted to share.
10:00 am
Got caught in a downpour and ducked under balconies and awnings all the
way back to the hotel
11:45 am
We say goodbye to New Orleans and promise to come back. This is definitely
a city deserving of more time
