  Day 5
Thursday, June 30, 2005
San Antonio to Carlsbad
Miles: 475

1:00 pm
Hot, straight, dry.

Have we mentioned hot and straight? Perhaps, "this is the road that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends, somebody started driving it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue driving it forever just because..."

The occassional mountain...

and a couple windmills.

Made it through by listening to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Six Easy Pieces of Physics, told by it's greatest teacher, Richard Feynman. Thank you itunes music store.

4:20 pm
2,000 miles and counting.

8:15 pm
It is now 7:15 pm. Entering Mountain Time Zone.

7:16 pm
Done with Texas! New Mexico doesn't look too much different yet, but it feels a whole lot better. The skies just keep smiling on us.

8:00 pm
Hotel...food...country version of Hotel California by the live band in the lounge, very reminiscent of a little trip to Willards (if you don't know, there's no time to tell the story) Best quote: "I don't know who Granny's dancing partner is, but he'd better get out on the floor"...authentic cowboy hats, fake internet connection...sleep.
