Back on the road. Once again, in an attempt to avoid Albuquerque (and to get our kicks), we hop off the interstate onto Rte 66.

Stand on the corner...don't eat the food.This isn't New Mexico, you can't just stop and eat anywhere and expect it to be good. Ordered a veggie burrito (tossed salad in flour tortilla...what, no rice and beans?) and a carne asada burrito. Here, "asada" means "uncooked."

NASA's Deep Impact spacecraft, launched in January of this year, released a second "impactor" rocket that is scheduled to crash into the comet Tempel-1 tonight at 10:52pm...give or take a few seconds. In a stroke of genius, we find the local observatory and head up into the hills.

No explosion, no fury unleashed...but the city and sky are beautiful from up here. A perfect chance to play with time exposures on the digital cameras.
